Emily Osment as been voted the U.G.L.Y. celebrity of 2011 in the seventh annual Celebrity of the Year Award. This most prestigious honor was bestowed upon Osment as voted by teens throughout North American.

While voters were impressed with Osment’s outstanding performance in the ABC Family TV movie, Cyberbully, they were blown away by her continued advocacy for bullying awareness and prevention.

"She has always been a positive role model for teens, and continues to do that with her positive outlooks and when she makes people realize that bullying is everywhere and that it’s not okay" explained teen voter Alyx V. "I admire Emily and her strength, and that even though she’s admitted to never really being bullied before, she can still know that it’s something that hurts people and that people need to know they don’t have to think they’re alone in their pain. It’s always easy for those of us who have suffered a bully’s wrath to understand what teens are going through and to want to help them, and the same goes for families of those who have been bullied ... but sometimes I think that a truly great person is someone who hasn’t suffered like that, and yet still, out of their own goodness, wants to help those who have"New York teen singer/songwriter Ari Zizzo chose Emily, "…..because she’s a true inspiration. Bullying prevention is the key mission of Hey U.G.L.Y. – Unique Gifted Lovable You (HU), the international nonprofit organization that sponsors the annual award through their media literacy program.

"In honor of Emily’s movie and the recent increase of teen suicides, we started CyberbulliedUnite.org to empower the 43% of teens who are being cyberbullied to know they are not alone" announced Betty Hoeffner, HU co-founder and president.

HU is dedicated to empowering youth with self-esteem- and empathy-building programs to empower them to be part of the solution to bullying. One of the areas that contribute to low self-esteem in teens is our celebrity-obsessed society which is why HU created the U.G.L.Y. Celebrity of the Year Award. It helps teens understand and embrace that it’s what you do instead of what you look like that matters the most. Celebrities are nominated as part of Hey U.G.L.Y.’s media literacy program. In the program teachers hold open discussions with their students about how we are all bombarded with news and gossip about celebrities. They delve into what characteristics make a good role model. Students then create a list of three celebrities that they think are good role models and three which they believe are not. After each group explains their selections to their classmates, the teacher sends the nominee selections to Hey U.G.L.Y. who tallies the results.

Emily Osment, the former 'Hannah Montana' star decided to make a drastic change in her appearance, though unlike a tattoo dying one's hair is a bit less permanent. Unlike her Disney co-star, Miley Cyrus, who is now getting tattoos removed. Talk about having regrets.No, Emily is not shy about "getting her feet wet," so why would she be shy about going bold for the holidays with a new hair color? Emily tweeted:

It was just last week when she decided that she would rather be 2 foot, 38 inches tall. Thankfully, her feet are on the ground, as Emily Osment had seemed to be having some fun we she posted this tweet with accompanying photograph:

Eaton Falls would be Eaton Canyon Falls in Pasadena, California. There is something to be said about spending time in nature on an autumn day. One thing is for certain, it does not matter how tall (or in Emily's case, short) one is, your feet still always touch the ground!

Former Hannah Montana co-star, Emily Osment wants to be a little taller. Not that 5 ft 2 is completely height deprived, Emily seems to have a fixation...and a fix for her height 'issue.'

Perhaps it all starts with playing second fiddle to Miley Cyrus when they were both Disney stars, but that is doubtful. Emily has a huge Twitter fan base of almost 1.4 million fans, so she clearly is popular. Speaking of Twitter, maybe it has to do with her Twitter bio where she gives the "definition" of her last name:

Os-MENT: A haphazardly small blonde person.

That's all well and good; Emily Osment is blonde and "small." However, it was this tweet on Thursday that makes one think that maybe she has this height issue all figured out. She will just make herself feel taller, by reporting her height in inches...a whole lot of inches:Gonna start giving my height as 2 foot 38 inches. ALL SWAG.

This is like saying that something on the dollar menu costs 100 pennies instead of just a $1 bill, right? Still, it is an interesting way of looking at one's height and if that helps make her feel just a bit taller, then go for it! The question is why didn't Emily Osment go for the whole 62 inches?

2011 county fair ‘par for the course’

Gate sales were down, but sponsorship was up at last week’s 2011 Benton County Fair, according to fairgrounds manager Lonny Wunder.

Wunder didn’t provide a final gate sales tally, saying the low figure was “skewed,” perhaps due to the number of free passes that were handed out to sponsors. The fair saw a 30 percent increase in sponsors from last year.

Sponsors receive anywhere from six to 20 free passes, depending on their contribution to the fair. Some sponsors donate cash; others donated items.

When asked how attendance compared to last year — all things considered — Wunder said only “It is tough to tell.” Parking sales, online ticket sales and preticket sales numbers have yet to be finalized. Wunder expects the numbers to come in sometime next week. Wunder did know that Aug. 6, the closing day of the fair’s four-day run, drew the largest crowd, second to Friday, which is customary.As for the new carnival, which was provided by Funtastic Shows — a Portland-based company in its first year of a three-year partnership with the Benton County Fair — reviews were good.

“They run a really clean carnival, and I appreciated not having electrical cords running across the street,” said Wunder, also noting he liked that cashless barcode system the carnival used.

Wunder said people complained there weren’t enough rides, but that was because the K-9 Frisbee Competition took over part of the lawn that previously was used for rides.

“They (Funtastic Shows) had plenty of rides,” Wunder said. “It was just about not having enough space.”

Wunder said the decision to bring in the Lane County 4-H kids — which raised the number of 4-H animals at the fair from 450 to 600 — “turned out great.”

“Auction prices were up, and buyers really came out to support their kids,” Wunder said.

Hannah Montana star Emily Osment drew a large amount of the youth in the community Wednesday night, while singer Aaron Tippin, who performed Thursday, drew a “fairly light” crowd, given his popularity, Wunder said.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds drew a good crowd Friday night, and Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts “packed the house — “like always” — on Saturday night.

There is nothing like free concerts - the avid music fan can soak up the great unfiltered stage performance and get quite attached to a rising star all in the matter of mere moments. On a yearly tradition the river stage at Penn’s landing hosts a wide variety of rising talent especially during the week of welcome America celebrations for our nation’s birthday. Penn’s’ landing is a supreme place to see an open air concert event and to date holds the annual fast rising star talent roster of lesser known Artists that spin off into the limelight and earn more then just a fan base with a blink of an eye.This year that tradition still continues as the River Stage at Penn’s landing in down town Philadelphia hosted a free concert with Disney Channels Emily Osment. This fast rising pop star is well known for her role as “Lilly Trescott “on the series Hannah Montana. Emily’s musical influences, which range from Led Zeppelin to The Beatles, shows she’s following the footsteps as a classic rocker with a pop star twist. She has already released her second CD on Windup Records. It is already gaining momentum as she is performing material off of it along with selected tracks from her debut release.

Opening the show at the River Stage, fans were treated to the dance moves of the Philadelphia Soul girls working the stage to some real rock gems as fan piled in to catch Emily Osment rock out later on. We were also treated to a very special performance from this ten piece A Cappella sensation known as Straight No Chaser. It pretty impressive to have ten different voices all combined on one stage and just send you into musical heaven. These guys truly demonstrate the gift of music through their set with various cover songs with a splash of coolness. Definitely a breath of fresh air watching these guys works their magic under a hot stage.

After that segment of a performance you wonder who can top that. Not easily done but fans were also treated to a nice set done by American Idol heart throb Tim Urban with his acoustic guitar as he performed many great solo songs captivating his TV debut in 2010.

A quick set change, and it’s time for the Grande performance of Emily Osment as she performed in front of a few thousand fans in the hot heat at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia Pa. She does have a great voice, her backing band sounds great, although the sun glasses prop really doesn’t suite the performance as through out the show she kept them on hiding her sparkling blues. For the forty minute set, Emily unveiled some new songs from her recent released CD Fight or Flight that included the mega hit “Love Sick “along with Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”. Emily Osment has a promising musical career as she recently performed some great catchy songs that are nothing short of greatness.

For a quick three plus hour free event, it was great to see some raw talent come alive over looking the river at Penn’s landing on a sunny afternoon with a scorching sun drenching the skyline of a landmark venue.

What’s ‘Cyberbully’ and are you two the victims or the perpetrators?

Emily Osment: ‘Cyberbully’ focuses on a girl, my character Taylor Hillridge and her battle with bullying and cyberbullying. It follows her into the home because it’s online. It follows her to school, and her best friend, Kay [Panabaker], plays Samantha, tries to help her, but doesn’t really know how. It’s basically her story, her insecurity and the way that she handles it and the wrong way that she handles it.
So this is a cautionary tale?

Emily Osment: It is. It’s not based on a true story, but it very easily could be because it’s extremely relatable and with all the press that’s going on about cyberbullying right now and Michelle Obama’s campaign and the campaign we’re doing with Seventeen Magazine and everything. They’re making it a big deal which is great for us and it’s also good for the cause because it’s a huge problem, and the more that we bring attention to it the better it’ll hopefully get.How did you get involved with this movie?

Kay Panabaker: I was going through a transition period and they’d asked me to audition, and I said, ‘I’m out of town,’ and I couldn’t do it. Then they cast someone else and then at the last minute she couldn’t travel because of an illness. They called me last minute and I said, ‘Okay, I’ll do it.’ So at five thirty on a Tuesday they said that I was going to have to fly at 11AM the next morning. I got thrown into it, but I was thrilled to be a part of it because I knew that Emily [Osment] was doing it when I signed on, and I’ve known her for many years. I liked it because the role was supporting her. She has such a dramatic and drastic character growth in this.

I really wanted to help showcase that. I think the movie, it focuses on her journey, but there’s the journey of her best friends and the bullies and her mom and how they all cope. Also, how this whole subject matter affects all of them.

How tragic does it get?

Emily Osment: We play it very realistic. Everything in the movie, it’s extremely dramatic and it’s extremely…it’s hard to say. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s very realistic, and everything that happens in the movie you believe. You completely believe these characters, and that’s why she says that it’s such a character growth. It’s just an exponential difference where she starts and where she finishes, my character.

Kay Panabaker: It’s such an emotional journey.

Emily Osment: And what she goes through. The crew and the cast and everyone did such a good job, especially the director, of heightening visually what I even look like in the beginning of the movie and what I look like at the end of the movie and the way that my hair is styled and the things that I wear. We had the best DP in Canada. We had a wonderful crew that really wanted to be there.

How do you relate to your characters in real life?

Kay Panabaker: I think as public figures we now ask for the public’s involvement in our lives through Twitter, through MySpace, through whatever and I think that people take that upon themselves that now that they have a direct line to you they can give you career advice, they can give you character advice. There’s no longer that sense of boundary with public figures, and just online in general you have such instant access to a person. They don’t really know you and I feel like my mother’s always taught me that you should conduct yourself privately as you would publicly. So, if you wouldn’t say these things to the person’s face don’t say them online. If you can’t not do that then take yourself off line and figure out a better outlet for whatever you’re dealing with.

Emily Osment: It’s a little hard to say that I can truly relate to my character just because her experience is so traumatic and I’ve never really dealt with anything that’s that emotionally strenuous, but my mom is a teacher and I hear stories about bullying all the time. I sat down and talked to her for a few hours before I flew to Montreal just so I could try to get a full grasp of what she hears bubbling and what she sees in the kids, the toll that it takes on the kids. I wanted to get a full opinion of what it’s like to be bullied.

Have you guys ever been tempted to tell someone online that they’re a jerk, maybe in more colorful language?

Emily Osment: No, because it kind of feeds…we don’t go looking for things, but you do find it and you think, ‘Wow, you really don’t know me if that’s what you’re going to assume about me. You don’t know me.’ Therefore that doesn’t warrant a response because then they’re just going to continue. That’s why a bully is a bully. They’re looking for a response out of you and if they don’t get it they’re going to stop.

How do you make typing cinematic, since there is a lot of that here?

Emily Osment: That’s a very good question. It was very cool the way this film was shot because we did everything handheld, and like I said, we had this amazing DP and the most fantastic director and a crew that’d worked together forever. So, they wanted to make it look beautiful and it was hard because we had a few outside scenes, but mostly it was inside in a bedroom looking at a computer. How do you make that pretty? The way that we shot it, we shot mostly reactions so that you’re not focused on a computer screen the whole time. It was hard personally for me, character wise, to go from everything is good to sobbing, like, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve read something,’ and there were so many scenes where it was an instant click with an emotional change which a lot of teenagers have. I think that was probably the most difficult. I cried every single day on this movie, as Kay will tell you. Every single day was so emotional.

Kay Panabaker: And sometimes it was like she’d have one or two scenes and then there were other ones where she was crying the entire day. Then at the end of the day, as opposed to being depressed she got herself happy again.

What was it like working with Kelly Rowan?

Emily Osment: I love her. She got me on a healthy kick. I’m completely, a hundred percent raw vegan now which is very difficult. I have all my own snacks with me here today, that’s for sure, but she’s the sweetest person and she did a fantastic job of giving me excellent advice.

Kay Panabaker: The couple of scenes that I had with her she was like, ‘These were my experiences and this is what I’ve learned. Take it or leave it.’

Emily Osment: She’s very real and extremely down to earth and very funny, very sarcastic which is just like me. So we got along really well.

American teen actress Emily Osment is best known for her work alongside Miley Cyrus and co-starring roles in the Spy Kids series. Still continuing her film and television work, Emily has since branched out into music, releasing her debut album Fight or Flight last year.

With the UK release of her single Lovesick, I Like Music caught up with Emily to chat about making pop music, her advice for young performers, the trials of fame and her plans for the future.

ILM: Your sngle Lovesick is about to get a UK release. Can you tell us about that track in particular?

Emily: I wrote Lovesick about a year ago. I'd written about five or six songs for the record with Adam Schlesinger, they were cool songs but not the electro-dance style that the label wanted to go for. So I was sent for a writing session with this guy called Toby Gad, and he's written for pretty much everyone - Shakira, Beyonce, Selena Gomez; he's a really super talented guy. When I got there I was a little intimidated but he was really cool. He kind of just let me takeover! I told him I needed a love song because I didn't have one yet and I wanted a love song told in kind of a weird way. Then I decided 'well, I'm obsessed with robots, so let's write a song about robot love!.' ILM: The Lovesick video looked fun to make...

Emily: When I was writing the song I had an idea for a video in my head, then we got sent lots of treatments and there was one guy I really loved. I was a big fan of the stuff he'd just done at home and I liked his style so we brought him in. Then he put me in this weird robot costume, with one earring and giant heels and sparkly tights and a robot corset! Plus my whole band were in black leather - it was so fun! Haha!

ILM: How would you describe the process behind your album Fight or Flight?

Emily: It took me forever to write the record because I was working on the show and trying to write at the same time. I wanted to work with this one writer who lives in New York, so I was going back and forth. I wanted to write the whole record myself, which I did, I collaborated on every song and that always takes longer too. Once it was written it was mixed and mastered and done in a month and a half which is very, very fast. While we were in the studio we listened to Tinie Tempah, Air, Flying Lotus and all these really cool DJ dubstep songs, it gave us the inspiration to put that into the music. I think we made a record that really flows and I'm really happy with it! Although it's funny, the music I'm writing right now is definitely more acoustic and jazzy - more like the whole Sarah Barielles style - coming from this whole electro sound it'll be interesting to try to tackle this new record.

ILM: You've come from a strong background in film and television, how have you found the transition into music?

Emily: It's a whole different world, that's for sure. I've loved music my whole life; my mum is a musician, my brother is a musician and everyone sings or plays some sort of instrument in my family, so I grew up with that being supported. There were always musical instruments lying around; I still play my mum's guitar that she's had since she was 17. It was a very musical upbringing, so I took it from just listening to music, to truly sitting down and writing my own. I started doing that, sort of more professionally when I was 14 or 15. I worked with some writers, I didn't really know what I was doing, I was learning, but I knew that I wanted to be involved with music and somehow it turned into what it is today. It is a big job...

ILM: In what way?

Emily: Well, I never thought that I could find a love for sleeping on a bus with ten other guys, travelling around the world playing music! I didn't know I could have that love in my life, which I do now and it's one of my favourite things in the world! I love playing live and I love touring and it's so funny because it's completely different from what I do. I mean, I'm in Montreal right now shooting a movie and it's just so different from every process of music and that's why I love it so much, because somehow I'm fortunate enough to be able to do both. And that's the fans; that's all the fans. It's all the fans that allow me to do this and they're the ones that keep me going and allow me to make more music. This is for them. This is for me as much as it is for them.

ILM: At what point did you decide to pursue music alongside your screen career?

Emily: I always thought that I was going to be an actress. I always thought that was going to be my thing, it was going to be my only thing. Then I heard the Beatles for the first time and I was just like 'alright, changing!' you know. It's funny how music inspires you in the strangest ways. I feel so lucky, just so lucky that my record label and management have gotten me to this place where I can play these amazing shows. I played a show with Robyn, I love Robyn! I'm such a big fan and I'm supposed to be playing a show to kids who like the music and yet I'm like 'oh my God guys, Robyn is here'! (laughs) I just feel like a nerd sometimes!

Album Review: Emily Osment - Fight or Flight

Emily Osment's Fight or Flight is a far cry from her Hannah Montana days. She's moved on from Disney pop and towards electro-pop rock beats.

Her 2009 EP, All The Right Wrongs saw her drastically trying to rid herself of her Disney image by transforming herself from girly girl to rocker.

In spite of the change, Osment came across as trying too hard with the rock pop tunes and the donning of a leather jacket and heavy eye make-up. It was the moody teenager phase of her career.

This time she seems to have got it right, although it still has elements of rock-pop, it's the electro beats that give her new album, Fight or Flight the substance.

Let's Be Friends was the first single to be released off the album and blasted her good girl Disney image to pieces with the lyrics "let's be friends so we can make out, you're so hot let me show you around".But it wasn't until follow up single Lovesick was released that the album gained recognition in the UK. It became the sound of ITV2 in early 2011 which boosted Osment's popularity.

The songs synthesised sounds and electro beats make the track a perfect party anthem and a definite club hit.

Other songs from the album continue in the same fashion. All The Boys Want continues to push the boundries and force her Disney image further away when Osment speaks of "numbing up" like Novocaine.

Fight or Flight also acts as a coming of age album as tracks such as Marisol and You Get Me Through lose the electro beats, sex and drugs and speak about feeling vunerable, lost and moments of realisation and empowerment.

Osment's new sound is quite unlike anything around at the moment. She has similarities in her voice to that of Ellie Goulding, but has stepped it up a level with her choice of unusual beats and sounds, and it works.

Lyrically, this album isn't genius but that fails to matter as the catchy beats will have you singing the tracks without you even knowing it.

Overall this is a well balanced album, it will get you moving, with tracks like Gotta Believe In Something, Double Talk and Get Yer Yah-Yah's Out, whether you want to or not and now that Osment's ditched the Disney image for good, you won't feel as guilty for wanting to listen to her.

Fight or Flight is already available to download and will be re-released on CD in the UK in July.

PopDash: Your new single is ‘Lovesick’. What can you tell us about the single?

Emily: I am so excited to be releasing it in the UK for a start. It’s been out here for a while in the States and Canada so it’s great to finally have I heard in Britain too. Lovesick is a fun song and it’s definitely different from my first EP which was more rock based. I knew I wanted to start making music you can dance too and Lovesick is definitely that. It’s a song about love but it’s got my own weird lyrics in there, singing about the technology of love.

PopDash: Is ‘Lovesick’ a good indicator of what’s going to be on your album?

Yes, absolutely. It’s the first song on the record for a reason and it gives everyone the impression of what I’m about and what my new music sounds like.

PopDash: As you mentioned earlier, you recorded an EP last year that sounds very different to ‘Lovesick’. How did that change come about?

When I wrote those old songs I was listening to a lot of rock music and I think that came through in the songs I made but then I started getting into a lot of electronic and electro-pop music and started to try make music like that. I mean, that’s what’s popular in the charts and on the radio and it makes sense to do music like that when so many people like it.

PopDash: What were you listening to?

Things like Friendly Fires, Passion Pit, Flying Lotus. A lot of dubstep too.

PopDash: Of the songs you have on your album, is there one that stands out to you as being a favourite?

Absolutely, there is a song called ‘1-800 Clap Your Hands’ that I wrote with Adam Schlesinger from the band Fountains Of Wayne. I was nervous to work with him because I am such a fan of that band. I had this music in my head but couldn’t get out and they just made it happen for me. It’s a very loud, cool dance track.

PopDash: How do you find the balance between acting work and music?

It’s hard you know? I spent six years of my life acting, trying to make music and attending school too. Everyday is a battle you know and it’s something I have to balance quite carefully. I’ve had to cancel movie roles to tour or go to meetings. It’s always rough and out of your hands but you learn to deal with it.

PopDash: Would you ever consider doing music in a film. A biopic for example?

Sure. I think I’d rather do musical theatre than a biopic though, I’m not really a big fan of those.

PopDash: Are you a big musical lover? Which are your favourites?

I just saw Wicked in L.A. a few days ago and it was incredible. You don’t even need to open your eyes, you can just listen to their incredible voices which reach hundreds of people and are pitch perfect.

PopDash: Your album is titled ‘Fight Or Flight’. Have you ever found yourself in a situation that required that decision and if so, how did you react?

The title means a lot to me in relation to the record itself. I had a lot of battles with the label, my managemeent and people ike that in order to get the able I wanted out there. I found myself in a lot of situations where it was like ‘Do I just smile and let this go or do I stand up and make the album I want to make?’. That’s where I found the album title most pertinent to myself I think.

Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award (KCA) Winners and Thoughts

So I was only able to catch some of the Kids Choice Awards (KCA) 2011 show last night, but I can say that it looked like a great show to be at live. I did catch Snoop Dog jumping on stage with Big Time Rush and getting slimed. I mean if you can slime the Doggfather you really have a great show. Even Heidi Klum got it. I would have liked to see some of the other stars slimed, but there is always next year for that.

Here are some of my own personal thoughts.

— Favorite Movie: “The Karate Kid.”

I can feel this entry, I mean Jaden Smith really did a great job in this role. The fact that is was Kung Fu though threw me for a loop while watching it. I mean how hard would it have been to have made it about Karate? Jackie Chan had another great role here, and I thought the actors really carried this film.Favorite Movie Actor: Johnny Depp, “Alice in Wonderland.”

Did not see it, but it sure looked visually stunning. Johnny Depp though based on past experience alone can get the nod from me.

— Favorite Movie Actress: Miley Cyrus, “The Last Song.”

I really think Miley is a real good actress. Far better than people give her credit for because of how she acts sometimes. Also even on a kids show (Hannah Montana) you could always see that should would be a wonderful actress in more adult roles. Plus she can sing and dance so you have the official triple threat.

— Favorite Animated Movie: “Despicable Me.”

You know I only caught the shorts from this film, not the whole film itself. The shorts and trailers were so funny I can only imagine that the movie would be great. The problem is wasn’t Toy Story 3 also out this year? So you have a funny movie versus a more emotional funny movie. I would have thought Toy Story 3 was a lock here.

— Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie: Eddie Murphy, “Shrek Forever After.”

It is Eddie Murphy, the guy can even make a Donkey funny.

— Favorite Butt-kicker: Jackie Chan, “The Karate Kid.”

As you know, I am not a huge iCarly fan. It is the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards though. My pick here is probably Wizards of Waverly Place or Hannah Montana.

— Favorite TV Actor: Dylan Sprouse, “The Suite Life on Deck.”

While I am also not a huge fan of the show, Dylan really does a good job at his role. Also since he has more screen time than a lot of the actors he gets to show those skills a bit more.

— Favorite TV Actress: Selena Gomez, “Wizards of Waverly Place.”

Agreed, even though I would have taken Miley Cyrus here as well. I am a huge fan of Wizards and Selena does a great job on the show.

— Favorite TV Sidekick: Jennette McCurdy, “iCarly.”

Even though I am not a huge fan of iCarly, I do think Jennette McCurdy does a great job with the role. I am ok with this pick as well. I would have accepted Emily Osment though as well.

— Favorite Reality Show: “American Idol.”

Not too many reality shows that are kid friendly so Ill also make this my pick.

— Favorite Cartoon: “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

I like SpongeBob, my kids like SpongeBob so it is a good pick. I will say though I think people underestimate the goodness that is Johnny Test.

— Favorite Music Group: Black Eyed Peas.

Ok, I dont really have another good pick for this one.

— Favorite Female Singer: Katy Perry.

Hmm, Taylor Swift would have been my pick.

Agreed, no one can stand in front of Bieber. This kid does it all.

"It should be harder to be an artist," Cyrus, 18, told Australia's Daily Telegraph of the 13-year-old Internet sensation. "You shouldn't just be able to put a song on YouTube and go on tour."

In fact, "The Climb" singer, who rose to fame on the Disney show "Hannah Montana," isn't a fan of much of what the web has to offer. "I do not tweet, I do not social network, I try to stay out of it," Cyrus said. "I complain enough about people knowing too much about my private life, so to go out there and exploit myself would be silly and hypocritical."

One personal detail Cyrus, who starts a tour in the land down under this summer, was willing to share? She's apparently seeing someone.

Emily Osment recently spent time at “grandma’s house” to do an interview with Canadian Music Week, and we’ve got the video clip to share with you, courtesy of Disney Infonet.

The clip starts off almost as a promo for CMW, as Emily and the interviewer discuss how CMW started out to promote Canadian music and then branched out to international stars, in addition to purchasing a lot of music and getting it out for fans to hear.

Things move on as Emily says she loves Canada and has spent a lot of time touring in Canada, but she covers herself well by saying she’s from the States and can’t dog her own county. She also takes a light little jab at MTV because the “music” channel isn’t what it used to be.One term I found interesting was the reference of Emily being an “anti-pop star” because she manages to avoid the mass-market commercialism that so many others have gone for, although she does mention that she’s in a transition at the moment and trying out new things. Is it possible that Emily won’t be hooked up to an indie label for much longer?

Emily Osment recently went record shopping in Los Angeles with our friends at Cambio, and after the mini spree, she took the time to talk about her musical inspirations and much more.

"When it comes to my own music, I feel like the records that I listen to sometimes don't reflect the style of music that I myself create," she explains outside of the famed L.A. record store Amoeba.
Emily says she listened to a lot of European hip-hop, rap and dub step while in the studio with her 'Fight or Flight' producer, which may come to a surprise to fans of her pop tunes. But, if you listen closely to some of her more electronic-based tracks, you may be able to pick up on the influences.

Emily also says she listened to a lot of Air and Tinie Tempah, but reveals that she really admires the female lead singers of groups like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric and No Doubt. We totally understand why.

The former 'Hannah Montana' star also talks about her recently canceled tour with Drake Bell, explaining that, while it's a disappointment, it has given her a chance to focus on songwriting and acting.

’80s rock group, teen star added to festival lineup

Teen star Emily Osment and 1980s rock group 38 Special have been added to this year’s Corn Palace Festival entertainment lineup, city of Mitchell officials announced this morning.

38 Special is scheduled to perform Friday, Aug. 26. Osment is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28.

38 Special is best known for hits such as “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up In You,” “Second Chance,” “Rockin’ Into The Night” and “Back Where You Belong.” The group also contributed the song “Back To Paradise” to the soundtrack for the movie “Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise.”Osment is known for playing Lily Truscott on the Disney Channel’s Emmy-nominated series “Hannah Montana,” and for playing Geri Giggles in the “Spy Kids” movies. The 18-year-old recently released her debut album, “Fight or Flight.”

Ticket prices are $30 for 38 Special and $25 for Osment. Tickets for both acts will go on sale Saturday, April 9. Tickets for other acts are currently available at www.cornpalace.com.

Other performers already announced for the festival include country-music legend Loretta Lynn, who will take the stage Tuesday, Aug. 23; contemporary country star Josh Turner, Wednesday, Aug. 24, with opening act The Band Perry; and the Happy Together Tour, Saturday, Aug. 27. Drake Bell, Emily Osment show postponed

CORPUS CHRISTI — The bad news is the Caller.com concert that would have brought Nickelodeon star Drake Bell and "Hannah Montana" favorite Emily Osment to Corpus Christi next month has been postponed.

The good news? Bell only postponed his U.S. tour because he has accepted an offer to star in a new TV series. The tour will be rescheduled for the fall.

Tickets purchased online for the March 23 show will be refunded automatically.

Those who purchased tickets at Brewster Street Ice House must be return there for a full refund.Bell is best known from his role as the high school heart throb Drake from the popular show "Drake & Josh."

Osment, who was set to be the concert's special guest, plays Hannah Montana's best friend Lilly Truscott on the Disney show that stars Miley Cyrus.

Besides their TV roles, Bell and Osment have both released albums and starred in movies.

Real canines give Disney's "Beverly Hills Chihuahau 2" two paws up

You're going to see a lot of people taking cheap shots at "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" today. People making jokes to the effect that this new home premiere is a dog and/or a real bitch to sit through.

Which isn't entirely fair. Especially since this Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment sequel to "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" was never intended to be an important piece of cinematic history. Bur rather - just like the 2008 road picture that proceeded it -- "BHC 2" is simply supposed to be a fun family flick. And if that's the yardstick that you'll be using to measure this Alex Zamm film by ... Well, then "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" delivers in spades.

Dog. Bitch. Spayed. Sorry, folks. I promise that this will be the last canine-related gag that I will be unleashing on you in today's article. I think. Anyway ...

The fun starts with "BHC 2" 's opening sequence, which is set inside of a church. For a moment or two, the audience is led to believe that it's Rachel (who was played by Piper Perabo in the original "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," and by Erin Cahill in this home premiere) and Sam Cortez (played by Manolo Cardona in "BHC 1" and by Marcus Coloma in "BHC 2") who are getting married. But as it turns out, it's Papi (voiced by George Lopez) and Chloe (originally voiced by Drew Barrymore, now voiced by Odette Yusman) who are tying the knot that day.

Mind you, Rachel and Sam have been talking about marriage. But given that Rachel and her Aunt Viv (played by Jamie Lee Curtis in "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" and by Susan Blakely in "Chihuahua 2") are about to head off to the South American rain forest, any non-canine nuptials will have to wait for a bit.

But Papi & Chloe? They don't wait. At least when it comes to starting a family. Four months after they get married, these two Chihuahuas are the proud parents of five lively little pups: four daughters -- Rosa, Pep, Lala & Ali (all voiced by Emily Osment) and one son - Papi Jr. (voiced by Zachary Gordon).

And Papi ... He loves to tell his kids tales about the great Chihuahua warriors of the past. Which often gets the puppies in trouble. Especially when they encounter some of their snootier neighbors whenever Papi & Chloe's crew venture to visit one of Beverly Hills' more exclusive dog parks.

After giving viewers a sense of how the better half lives, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" 's action shifts to a less upscale part of town, as Sam takes Papi & Chloe's pack back to his parents' home. Where this dutiful son then learns that his folks have fallen behind on their mortgage. And unless the Cortezes come up with $40,000 before the end of the month, the bank will then take their house.

And if this happens, it's not just Sam's parents who will be out on the street. Papi's old pal Pedro (voiced by Ernie Hudson) will also lose his home. Which is why Chloe & Co. feel that that they have to do something in order to help here. So - when they learn that the Beverly Hills Dog Show awards a $50,000 prize for the 1st place winner - the Chihuahuas immediately decide to enter this competition. So that - if they win - these dogs can then help the Cortezes get out of debt.

Okay. I know. The main storyline of "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" already sounds pretty silly. Did I mention that this home premiere also features a sub-plot built around Delgado? Who's this Mexican police dog (voiced by Andy Garcia in "BHC 1" and by Miguel Ferrer in "BHC 2") that's desperately trying to reconnect with his two long lost sons? That part of this picture gets pretty sappy as well.

But to his credit, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" director Alex Zamm keeps things moving along at a good clip. With the real highlight of this production being the Beverly Hills Dog Show. Which haa a lot of fun with sending up many of the conventions of beauty pageants - from the talent portion of the program right through to the bathing suit competition.

In fact, it's this portion of "BHC 2" that is sure to amuse all of you Disney film & Disney Channel fans out there. Given that the snooty judge at the dog show is played by Phill Lewis, the character actor who's best known for playing Mr. Moseby on "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody " & "The Suite Life on Deck." And the male TV commentator? That's French Stewart, who played the title character in another Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment release, 2003's "Inspector Gadget 2."

And speaking of that particular home premiere ... Keep a sharp eye out for Colleen Mansfield, the owner of Appoline, the spoiled poodle. Does this actress look familiar? She should. This is Elaine Hendrix. Who played G2 in "Inspector Gadget 2" as well as Meredith Blake, Dennis Quaid's scheming fiancée in Disney's 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap."

Now add to this the fact that Mr. Kroop (i.e. the banker who's out to foreclose on the Cortezes home) is being played by Brian Stepanek. Who's best known for his inspired comic performances as Arwin Hawkhauser, the Tipton Hotel's clumsy handyman on "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody." Not to mention the tween star who's voicing Appoline. Which is Bridgit Mendler AKA Teddy Duncan on that Disney Channel hit, "Good Luck Charlie."

Then when you factor in "Beverly Hill Chihuhua 2" 's strong production values as well as its clever repurposing of several iconic LA buildings (EX: with Union Station becoming the bank that Mr. Kroop works at and the Disney Concert Hotel serving as that hoity-toity hall where the Beverly Hills Dog Show is held) ... It looks like one of the most anticipated tours is cancelled. The US tour planned for Drake Bell and Emily Osment and Action Item has been cancelled. Drake Bell posted on Twitter about being bummed the tour had been cancelled for March/April date and he hopes to make up the dates some time in the future. Emily Osment also followed up on Twitter to give some more details on why the tour was cancelled.

Emily mentioned that Drake Bell was pulled out of the tour due to another opportunity, by default that means all the shows have been cancelled. Osment lamented that the situation was of course out of her hands and she was very apologetic to the fans, but promised she would find a way to get on the road and bring her music to her fans. Drake Bell is best known for the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh and won nine Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. Emily Osment is best known for co-starring as Gerti Giggles in Spy Kids 2.
